He Asked to Split the Bill… But Then He Said THIS

I went on a date with a guy. He ordered the fanciest things on the menu.
I thought, “This one is a catch.”
But then—right when the check came—he looked up and said, “Should we split it?”

I didn’t show how bothered I was, but inside I felt a mix of surprise and disappointment.
Really? After everything he ordered?

I stayed polite, nodded, paid my half, and we said goodbye.

But just minutes later, my phone rang.

It was him.

“Hey!” he said, sounding a bit out of breath. “I just noticed that you didn’t eat half as much as I did. That wasn’t fair. I’m really sorry. I should’ve paid for both of us.”

I was silent.
He continued, “I wanted to see if you were kind or just expecting a free meal. And you passed the test. Would you let me take you out again—properly this time?”

I didn’t know what to say. In a world full of red flags, was this… a green one?
