HE: Have you noticed any big viral moments that the internet is blowing up about?
AL: Yeah, I loved that Chloë moment in Proenza – she’s one of my style icons, so it was so exciting to see. But I think one thing that comes to mind is this viral image that was shared on Twitter and TikTok. And I’m sure you know what I’m talking about, but it’s this image of Anna Wintour sitting in the second row in a completely empty room where the show Collina Strada is taking place. And people, I think, just lost their minds.
First of all, when I saw this photo, I just swiped it away because I was like, “Oh, that’s funny, Photoshop. I don’t know why anyone would do that. It was actually only when I went to a show the next morning, and a couple of us were talking about it on the way out. And I realized, no, it was literally an image of Anna Wintour sitting all alone in the back of an empty Collina Strada show. But I think the reason the internet has lost its mind is that people don’t really understand and often see what it’s like to go to these shows and what the environment is like and why maybe that she was sitting there. Like, what does this mean? … We thought about it more and realized the theory was that we thought it made more sense for her to be sitting in that back corner. Obviously, she is always like everything in the front row. But she was sitting in her back corner, and it was right next to the elevator. And as we know, [Wintour] likes to be first in, first out. So I think the show was over, and everyone was gone, and she was waiting so she could go solo and run for the elevator and, you know, go to the next show.
