We love a good steakhouse from Ruth’s Chris in LongHorn to Texas Roadhouse, but what we love too (and you probably do too!) is a bargain. Yes, these steakhouses can be expensive, but employees and former employees have taken to TikTok, Reddit and other social media platforms to share their secrets to saving money and getting your meals on the cheap without sacrificing flavor.
As always, this can vary by location, so be sure to ask about promotions before ordering, or call and make sure they have specific promotions.

This advice is actually for a steakhouse in New York called St. Anslem, but it bodes well for other steakhouses as well. A Reddit thread on finding cheaper steakhouses says to look for the Butcher steak in particular, but any cut that isn’t one of the popular cuts like filet mignon or rib eye will be more affordable.

A former Texas Roadhouse employee spilled the beans on TikTok about this menu hack. The Filet Medallions dish, which is topped with pepper or mushroom sauce, contains nine ounces of beef, for less than the normal tenderloin, which is about six ounces. She also notes that you can request it without the sauce.

Many chains offer discounts or free side dishes/starters/desserts to people over 65 or those who have served in the military. LongHorn offers 10% discount to veteransin the same way Outback Steakhouse. Don’t be shy, it can’t hurt to ask your server or call ahead if you prefer.

Honestly, this can work in almost any restaurant. A Texas Roadhouse employee shared on TikTok that if a dish comes with rice or mashed potatoes, you can swap almost any other side of the menu, which means you can go healthier, or potentially, more expensive. Worth asking!

If you join the Longhorn Steakhouse Email Clubyou can get a free appetizer like steakhouse wings with the purchase of a meal the next time you go. Capital Grid Insiders get updates on new menu items and other opportunities. Club Select de Landry offers specials at Landry’s, Del Friscos, and more. Outback Dinner Rewards you’ll get offers there and at Fleming. You will also receive regular emails from the restaurant with other offers.

Although prices vary by location, the happy hour menu at Ruth’s Chris is a great way to sample steakhouse offerings without breaking the bank. You will find the burger, the steak sandwich, the tuna tartare and generally a small filet accompanied by a good glass of red for a good price. Check with your local favorite, if you don’t have Ruth’s Chris, they may have a happy hour menu too!

In many Texas Roadhouse restaurants, the first guests do good business. Available Monday through Thursday before 6 p.m., menu items are between $10 and $12, and yes, that includes steak (sirloin, ground beef, and fried) as well as barbecue chicken, chicken tenderloins, pulled pork , etc.

Whether it’s coupons for followers or just announcing new promotions, most of your favorite restaurants will be using social media like Facebook to share the latest, such as Texas Roadhouse adding $5 to $30 gift card or Capital Grille announcing their Generous wine event for.

Morton’s Steakhouse has a bar bites menu that varies by location, but is available at most. You can get sliders, oysters, and other bites for much less at this upscale spot, and many other smaller steakhouses will also offer small plates at the bar.

Many steakhouses, like LongHorn, are open for lunch and offer a fairly similar menu (albeit with smaller portions) at lower prices at lunchtime. If you’re on a budget and want a steakhouse treat, head to lunch for some great deals.
