After months of teasing, LumaFusion has finally arrived on Android and ChromeOS.
The popular video editing app made the leap from the iPhone and iPad, where it has steadily built up a sizable fanbase of filmmakers and content creators.
LumaTouch, the developer behind the software, promises “the full LumaFusion experience” on Apple and Android devices.
LumaFusion on Android: What to Expect
Take an identical approach to Blackmagic Design on release DaVinci Resolve for iPadwhich features platform parity with the desktop version, existing users will find themselves in familiar territory with the award-winning version video editing software.
The look, feel and workflow seem identical, with editors capable of overlaying up to six video tracks and six audio tracks (although the actual figure depends on the device, with the best android tablets giving better results). The app retains the magnetic timeline, track headers, titling effects, and color correction tools.
Basic VFX software comes as part of the package. This includes green screen and chroma key, selection from grouped color LUTs, and the ability to speed up, slow down, or speed up footage. The app also offers a range of audio editor characteristics to achieve the perfect balance.
With an eye on remote collaboration, LumaFusion also gives users full control over resolution, quality, and frame rate when sharing with colleagues. A useful addition especially for mobile journalists and filmmakers on location.
However, despite appearances, LumaFusion on Android isn’t just a port, with LumaTouch claiming that this version was built specifically for the platform by experienced ChromeOS developers. The development team “has made great strides in recreating LumaFusion’s signature experience to ensure that users will get the same workflow on the device of their choice,” the company said.
LumaFusion for Android is priced at $29 / £24.49. It is available on the Google Play Store by clicking on here (opens in a new tab) and Samsung Galaxy Store by clicking here (opens in a new tab). Users who purchased the discounted beta get the full product at no cost.
