Number of Fashion Weeks attended:
Looking back on my Instagram, it looks like my very first fashion show was BCBGMAXAZRIA in the fall of 2014, so do the math! This was when NYFW was held in tents at Lincoln Center. I had interned for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week the previous year and had worked as an usher at the BCBG show, so to be invited back as a seated guest I was ecstatic – the one of my favorite career highlights!
What is your personal approach to Fashion Week?
It’s my first season after a three-year hiatus, so I haven’t thought about what I’ll be wearing at all! I’ve been living with two suitcases for 9 months, so I work with a very limited closet, which I don’t think is necessarily a bad thing. I’m going to stick with what I know, which is my go-to uniform paired with comfortable shoes. When I was traveling for NYFW I used to plan my outfits in advance – I would have 2-3 items I was excited about but would wake up each day and dress according to how I felt, shows I had and how much walking I had ahead of me.
What piece are you most looking forward to wearing?
Call me basic but I just bought one banana republic men’s denim shirt that I’m really excited for a denim-on-denim moment. This Saks Potts two-in-one trench coat is also the perfect transitional coat that I’m going to keep spinning this fashion week and I’m going to get my Fri Store knitwear for the overlay.
What is a non-negotiable Fashion Week?
A mophy.
What or which presentation are you most excited about?
This is my first time attending shows as a wedding stylist, which means I’ll be looking for pieces for my real clients who are getting married this fall. I can’t wait to see what Rodarte, Carolina Herrera and Markarian have in store for the fall. I’m also excited about some couture silhouettes at Bach Mai and Wiederhoeft for my less conventional brides.
What is your trend forecast for the coming season?
From iconic Chanel brides to Richard Quinn’s modern twist on The Final Bride to Erdem & Prabal Gurung’s expansion into the bride and Christopher John Roger’s recent bridal capsule that just launched on Net-a-porter, I think we’ll see more and more unconventional bridal wear as well as ready-to-wear brands expanding into the wedding. As for fall-specific trends, I think cardigans are having a moment with some interesting hosiery style tricks – I’d love to see some fun variations on them this season.
Most Memorable NYFW Moment:
Some shoe choices, waiting for Cardi B, carpooling, when Christina Aguilera showed up to the Area show, being late to the Coach show, missing everything, then crying about it.
