It’s official, with today’s release of the iOS 16.4 developer beta, we’ve got our first look at the next set of emojis coming to our iPhones, thanks to Emojipedia. The new set of emojis was originally unveiled during the draft phase last year, and not much has changed since then except that the shaking head is now tilted where it wasn’t before. .
Of course, these designs could still change before the final version of iOS 16.4 (and iPadOS 16.4) is delivered to consumers in the coming weeks. And it wouldn’t be surprising if the designs changed, notes Emojipedia, as has already happened with emojis like peach, troll and bagel.

But with the developer beta, we’ve got a pretty solid glimpse of what’s to come, following Unicode’s certification of emjoi’s next release in September 2022, Emoji 15.0.
Highlights include highly anticipated variations of the heart emoji, including the much-requested pink heart, as well as blue and gray versions. There are also two new hand pushing gestures for left hand and right hand which can be used either as a “stop” or together for a high five.
One of the most interesting additions, however, is a shaking face emoji that will likely be used as “I’m shaken” by texters.
Other additions include animals like a donkey, moose, goose, jellyfish, and a wing that can fit into animals but could also be used to express flight in other more metaphorical ways.
Other new emojis cover categories such as food and drink, activity, objects and symbols and include a hyacinth, pea pod, ginger, folding fan, hair pick, flute, maracas and Khanda and wireless symbols.
While these emojis represent how they look on Apple devices, Emoji 15.0 will roll out to all supported platforms in early 2023.
If you want to play with emoji now, you’ll need to download iOS 16.4 beta 1, which is available through Apple’s Developer Program. The final public version is expected to arrive in March or April 2023.
