Google will shut down its cloud-based game streaming service, Google Stadia, on January 18. Ahead of the shutdown, the company announced that it will soon be rolling out a final Stadia Controller update that will bring Bluetooth technology support to the device. That said, unlocking Bluetooth connectivity on its Stadia controller isn’t exactly a straightforward process and it requires the company to do more than just release a software update. First, the company must obtain certification or approval from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group in order to allow its Stadia Controller to be used as a wireless controller. Once it has obtained the necessary permissions, it will need to roll out an update enabling the feature to all of its Stadia Controller devices used by gamers around the world. Currently, Google’s Stadia controller is listed on the Bluetooth SIG website. This listing says “HoGP BLE profile support for Stadia Controller”, indicating that the Stadia Controller will soon have Bluetooth Low Energy support. “Additionally, many of you have expressed a desire to enable Bluetooth on the Stadia Controller. We have good news: next week we will be releasing a self-service tool to enable Bluetooth connections on your Stadia Controller. We’ll share details next week on how to enable this feature,” Google wrote in a Stadia support page hinting at a potential timeline as to when the company will unlock the feature.
With the upcoming Stadia Controller update, users will be able to use the game controller with other game consoles such as Xbox or PlayStation. In other words, their Stadia controllers will not sit in a corner of their house completely useless.
Separately, Google released its latest game dubbed the “Worm Game” on Stadia before the shutdown.

Google, in the description of the game, said that its team was using this game to test various features it was developing for the platform and wanted to share it with all Stadia users as a thank you before the shutdown. .
