Pay via domains
Similar to Monzo’s shared payment link service, GoDaddy’s new offering includes features such as the ability to share paid domains with customers via SMS, social media or QR code, with a 2.3% transaction fee + 0.30 USD per online transaction.
Business owners who use the domain registrar (opens in a new tab) To purchase any domain, you can access the paid domain service through GoDaddy’s main dashboard.
“While there have been innovations around domain name add-on products, such as domain ownership and privacy protection services, little has been done to improve the ability of domain names themselves,” said Paul Nicks, GoDaddy President of Domains.
“Domains have been widely used as a digital identity for businesses, but with this new business capability, we see the domain name playing a much more versatile role for growing small businesses. The paid domain ultimately serves as a tool innovative and cost-effective way for entrepreneurs to accept payments online even before building a website.”
GoDaddy customers who register their name or business domain will then receive the corresponding paid domain to accept payments. Domain owners will then be able to link a bank account to their GoDaddy payment account once the first payment has been received.
Currently, GoDaddy Payments is integrated with a host of GoDaddy commerce products, including its website builder, managed WordPress, and managed WooCommerce store plans.
“We are intensely focused on creating connected commerce solutions that make it easy to grow a business, whether you’re just naming your business or expanding sales across the country,” said Osama Bedier. , president of GoDaddy Commerce. “With paid domains, it’s never been easier to start selling online.”
GoDaddy says users will need to complete the verification process before they can receive payments for transactions.
