Although not currently sold in the United States, the Oppo Find N2 and N2 Flip have found success in the US market with users who do not hesitate to import phones from abroad. However, users currently enjoying this excellent foldable in the US, using SIM from carriers such as T-Mobile, find that there is a particular annoyance when trying to send non-RCS texts. through the Google Messages app.

The problem seems to be more prevalent when trying to send SMS messages to iPhone users, or anyone who doesn’t use RCS, and ends with a pop-up saying “Messages wants to send a message requesting payment. Please verify your identity before sending” with a prompt to sign in or cancel. To date, a workaround has been used by frustrated users, which is to close the Google Messages app and switch to the standard messaging app for the text to pass.
As shown in the video, to change this setting you will need to go to phone settings > About device > Version and then repeatedly tap on the build number. After about 8-10 times, the device will tell you that you are now a developer. Once you’ve completed this step, you’ll need to head to Additional Settings > Developer Options and scroll down to the “Apps” section. Here, enable the setting that says “Disable permission monitoring”.
This is of course not a permanent fix or manufacturer recommendation, it’s simply a community found solution, which has proven to work like a charm if you’re comfortable enough to dig into the settings of the developer. Hopefully this will prompt a more permanent fix to be released via software update.
