The Galaxy Z Flip was one of the first devices to receive the January 2023 security patch. However, at the time, Samsung rolled out the update only to international LTE and 5G variants of the device. Today, the company is releasing the January 2023 security patch for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Flip (SM-F700U) in the United States.
New Galaxy Z Flip carrier-locked version update in US upgrades the phone’s firmware version to F700USQS5HWA1. The January 2023 security patch fixes more than fifty security-related issues. The update is available for devices running on Sprint’s network. Devices on other networks should also receive the update in the coming days.
If your Galaxy Z Flip has not yet informed you about the latest update, you can check it manually by going to Settings » Software update and clicking Download and install. You can also download the update from our firmware section and install it manually using Samsung Odin. But only do this if you are 100% sure of the risks involved.
Since the Galaxy Z Flip is a high-end phone, Samsung has promised to deliver three OS updates to the device, and it has already rolled out those three updates. The phone was launched with Android 10, and it is currently running Android 13 (One UI 5.0), which was its latest update. The phone will, however, receive security updates until 2025.
