With the launch of the Galaxy S23 series (and the new Galaxy Book 3 line of laptops) out of the way, Samsung is starting to get back to business as usual. And that routine includes bringing new security updates to existing smartphones and tablets as quickly as possible.
The February 2023 security update released for the Galaxy Note 20 series earlier this week, and it’s now available for the Galaxy S21 FE. Or at least the Galaxy S21 FE variant powered by the Exynos 2100, Samsung’s least controversial mobile chip in recent years.
Galaxy S21 FE with model number SM-G990E are getting a new update that comes with the latest security patch. Brazil is the only country where the update appears to be rolling out at the moment, but you can expect the list to grow in the coming weeks and before we enter March.
February 2023 security update for Exynos versions of the Galaxy S21 FE
The update comes with the firmware version G990EXXS3DWAA and only has the February 2023 security patch to offer. Our guess is that the next Galaxy S21 FE update to bring new features will be the One UI 5.1 update. Samsung has yet to officially reveal whether One UI 5.1 is coming to older devices, but we can assume it will happen at some point in the near future if history is any guide.
To download the latest update to your Galaxy S21 FE, open the phone’s Settings app, go to Software updatethen touch the Download and install button. Firmware files for the latest update can be downloaded from our archive if you want to upgrade your phone manually using a Windows PC, although we only recommend this method if you are at comfortable (and preferably experienced in updating your Android phone on your own). .
