Well, we’ve all heard people rave about the benefits of fruit, especially in the morning on an empty stomach. They are good for digestion, skin, hair, metabolism, immunity, and the list goes on. However, what we tend to forget is that each person has a specific body type and metabolism, so for some people morning fruit is a BIG NO. While for others, having fruit to accompany breakfast is highly appreciated.
Recently, Dr. Dimple Jangda, an Ayurvedic gut health and beauty expert, took to her social media to share more information about an often misunderstood lifestyle habit, “fruit for breakfast or not? “
Know Your Fruit
Each fruit contains a variety of enzymes and acids that can react with bacteria in the gut and can do good or harm, depending on the person’s symptoms. The expert invites everyone to fully understand the fruits you eat before putting them on your plate.

The expert’s caption reads: “All fruits contain active enzymes and fruit acids like citric acid, tartaric acid, fumaric acid, oxalic acid and malic acid which react rapidly with lactic acid in dairy products and do not mix well with vegetables, grains and meat;creating undigested metabolic waste products. These incompatible combinations can impede tissue metabolism and inhibit the process of tissue formation and have a property opposed to tissue called ‘Viruddha Anna’ or incompatible diet.
Who should avoid or take fruit in the morning?
People with the symptoms mentioned below should either take fruits or avoid fruits for breakfast, according to the expert.
1. Avoid fruit
Avoid fruits in the morning on an empty stomach if you have symptoms like sourness, burning sensation or Kapha related symptoms like cold, cough, sinusitis, allergies, asthma, hay fever, lung congestion, bronchitis, diabetes and weight gain.
2. Eat fruit
Eat fruit if you have symptoms like constipation, dry and rough skin, dry and frizzy hair, weak digestion and weak metabolism. Fruit improves your gut bacteria and boosts your digestive juices. In fact, you must have cooked fruits (cooked with water, cinnamon, cloves, and pepper) to aid digestion and relieve constipation symptoms.

3. Remember
Remember to eat fruit alone or leave it alone! Fruit should not be mixed with vegetables, dairy products, grains, puches or meat as they can become toxic. You have, however, mixed fruits with dried fruits because they come from the same family.

Benefits of having fruit in the morning
If you are someone who can have fruit for breakfast, here are some benefits they can get from it.
1. The best detox foods
Our body undergoes a detoxification process from 7am to 11am. Fruits will give extra energy to this process unlike anti-detox foods that contain a lot of fat.
2. Boosting metabolism
Fruit is the most digestible food of all. Having them early in the morning increases metabolism rates for hours to come due to the influx of natural fruit sugars.
3. Wake up your body
Your body craves natural fruit sugars right after you wake up. Try swapping your shot of espresso with a plate of natural goodness, perhaps dipping into a smoothie that will keep your brain agile and energized.
