The Hogwarts Legacy Cast includes some big names in acting, so there’s bound to be a few professors, students, or even dark wizards whose voices you’ll recognize as you explore the wizarding world.
The best-known voice to date is Simon Pegg, who appears in one of the biggest upcoming PC games of 2023 as director Phineas Nigellus Black. Pegg is joined by an already exciting roster of names, as even more Hogwarts Legacy characters have been announced with them, like a Professor Weasley, and more students you can befriend while exploring the huge Hogwarts Legacy open world map for Floo Flames locations and other magic mechanics.

Amit Thakkar
Amit Thakkar is a Ravenclaw student with a passion for astronomy played by Asif Ali. You might recognize Ali from a number of high-profile TV shows or movies, including WandaVision, Don’t Worry Darling, or the BoJack Horseman animated series.
Deputy Director Professor Matilda Weasley
Deputy director Matilda Weasley is to be voiced by a nice British redhead, so who better than Lesley Nicol of Downton Abbey fame. Of course, that’s not the only place you can recognize Nicol’s vocals from, as his storied career includes the UK’s (and originals) Shameless, Once Upon a Time, Father Brown and Doc Martin. Like most Hogwarts Legacy actors, you’ll definitely recognize his voice if you’re a fan of British TV.
Everett Cloton
A young Ravenclaw student more interested in pranks than studying, you might be forgiven for confusing Everett Clopton with the Weasley brothers. Well, you wouldn’t be far off because its voice actor, Luke Youngblood, actually played the twins’ best friend and prankster Lee Jordan in the film series, and is returning for the franchise for Hogwarts Legacy.
Director Phineas Nigellus Black
Director Phineas Nigellus Black is one of the only characters we already know from the Harry Potter series. We still don’t know much, but yes, he is the ancestor of Sirius, the bad boy’s favorite godfather. Hilarious British actor Simon Pegg takes on the role of Professor Black and is known for his roles in (among countless others) Spaced and Shaun of the Dead. If you forget this list and the director’s voice becomes an earworm that you just can’t place past the Hogwarts Legacy release date, then you clearly haven’t watched enough British comedy.
Nearly Headless Nick and the Sorting Hat
Nearly Headless Nick and the Sorting Hat are two other familiar non-faces in Hogwarts lore, both voiced by the same person in Hogwarts Legacy. We don’t know what role Nick will play in Hogwarts Legacy, or if he’ll just be a wandering NPC on the grounds, but we sure do know that the Sorting Hat is of great importance on your first day at school. . If you’re too scared of being sorted in the open-world game, you can always import your house and wand into Hogwarts Legacy to be sure you’re placed where you want.
The Sorting Hat and Nearly Cut-Neck Ghost are voiced by Jason Anthony, an experienced voice actor with credits in multiple games and movies, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Marmaduke. Most interesting for the role though, Anthony was the voice of Ron Weasley himself in the now-defunct mobile game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
Professor Onai
Professor Onai is the mother of Gryffindor student Natsai Onai, and the couple left Africa when Onai was offered the job of Divination teacher, a role she previously held at the top school in wizards in the world, Uagadou. Its voice actor has experience with slightly less wholesome work – but don’t worry, we won’t judge you if you recognize the voice of Kandace Caine from body horror The Human Centipede 2. Instead, we’ll assume you know her voice from Modern Warfare II, in which she voiced Nova.
Professor Satyavati Shah
Astronomy Professor Shah is voiced by Sohm Kapila, whose incredible career spans from the stage to classic UK and US series, and the world, having moved from India, UK, US . You might recognize her voice from Casualty or Grey’s Anatomy (depending on your preference or locale), the revamped Charmed series or 2017’s The Mummy, but this is her first foray into the gaming industry.
Player characters
Warner Bros has made no secret of the fact that Hogwarts Legacy’s character creation is wide and varied, allowing you to really go to town on the finer details of who you want to be. However, there are only two voices to choose from when customizing your character, and they belong to Sebastian Croft and Amelia Gething.
Heartstopper was a 2022 Netflix hit, so you might recognize Croft’s voice from his role as Ben Hope on the show. He also appeared in the movie Horrible Histories and voiced Fletcher in Season 2 of Love, Death and Robots. In the meantime, Gething has made a name for itself in none other than The Amelia Gething Complex. Yeah. The multi-talented star has written and starred in BBC comedy. If you haven’t figured that out and you still know her voice somewhere, it could be Anne Brontë in Emily.
