Sleek figures, washboard abs and flawless looks – there are plenty of celebrities in the glamorous world that people want to reach for in the name of wellness. But giving up essential foods instead of eating right and getting enough exercise is definitely not the right path to fitness, says actor Aahana Kumra.
HealthShots recently caught up with Aahana Kumra at a movie promotion and talked about the actress’ diet and fitness routine, considering she’s so fit! Admittedly gourmet, Aahana likes jalebis and kachoris, but also likes to run for fitness.
“Being fit and healthy is important. Eat whatever you want, but give your body at least 30 minutes a day to exercise,” says the actor, seen in recent movies like India Lockdown and Salaam Venky.
She was quick to shoot down the idea of people aspiring to celebrity bodies. “Celebrity bodies are a bit far-fetched. I think people should just have a fit body,” said Aahana, who sincerely believes that physical well-being also leads to good mental health!

Aahana Kumra reveals her diet mantra for healthy living
Aahana and her sister Shivani Kumra, a fitness enthusiast and runner, promote the idea of holistic wellness without crash dieting. Talking about what worries them deeply about the weight loss obsession lately, Aahana Kumra said, “My sister and I are discussing how young girls and boys are not eating food these days. here, how will they live to be 40? And after 40 is when the real test begins, when your body will start to give up. Slowly the back will go, followed by the knees, shoulders, and so on and so forth.
Although Aahana admitted that she and her sister also take protein and collagen supplements, they make sure it’s not their ‘food’.
“After 25 or 30, take supplements for everything your body needs and can’t produce on its own. But that doesn’t mean you leave food and depend on supplements like woh khaana hai. We are big food advocates!
Aahana Kumra shares her foodie stories
If Bollywood fitness queen Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s Sunday cheat meal makes your eyes pop, wait until you know what Aahana Kumra Sundays are all about! “My Sunday starts with jalebis, then we eat kachoris, chhole bhature, biryani, butter chicken… we celebrate our Sunday. It’s jashn-e-revivar,” she joked.
Jokes aside, the bottom line, according to Aahana, is that “you can’t starve your body.” So what are her dietary tips?
Well, this is what she said: “Khaaiye, ghar ka khaana khaaiye. Eat lots of home-cooked meals. Try not to eat junk food. I understand if your job is such that you have to eat out, but try to eat greens, vegetables, and protein. You must have conscious eating habits, instead of saying “maine khaana chhod diya toh main kal patli ho jaaungi”!”
The actor genuinely believes in changing your diet to lose weight, but she suggests, “Don’t cut things out, especially the foods you grew up eating. I eat roti and chawal and I never left them!

“I love running,” says Aahana Kumra
When it comes to her exercise routine, Aahana is a fiery runner.
“After lockdown, I started running 5km, which changed to 8km, 10km, 12km and now it’s 15km. Yes, I can easily run 15km in a row. My sister and I try not to miss our Sunday run on Juhu Beach, and I run at least 3-4 times a week!
Overall, Aahana’s wellness mantra is to set long-term goals instead of short-term ones!
